Local Government Reorganisation Suspended
The Government’s plans to close local councils and replace them with one large Unitary Council (LGR) has now been withdrawn pending a review!

Reform never wanted LGR to be forced on Hampshire. Now, thanks to Reform-led councils initiating formal judicial reviews against the government, ministers have backed down.
Nigel Farage said “Reform proved these plans were a disaster and that our legal challenges forced another embarrassing government U-turn. Only Reform had the backbone to fight this.”
This is a win for local democracy and for residents who never asked for their councils to be abolished.
